Freedom for all political prisoners
We demand freedom for all political prisoners. We celebrate the release of eleven of the Puerto Rican political prisoners, yet we know that close to 100 women and men are in U.S. prisons because they have dared to struggle for the liberation of oppressed peoples. They are political prisoners and we demand their release. They include Puerto Rican independentistas, members of native and Black liberation movements and white anti-imperialists. The prisoners have received harsh treatment and disproportionate sentences, some over 100 years. Some have been in jail since the early 1970s. It is unconscionable to allow these freedom fighters to remain in jail.
