We support queer liberation

We support lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender liberation. Queer people have the right to love each other openly and to define their own lives. Lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, and transgendered people (LGBTs) are harassed and targeted for brutal repression. Efforts to silence, intimidate, and even annihilate LGBTs continue. They are denied jobs and housing and can be disowned by their families or physically attacked just for who they are.

In Prairie Fire, we see that LGBTs defy the heterosexual social order and help all of us to develop more open ideas about gender identity and expression. The right to express and enjoy sexuality challenges heterosexist privilege and entrenched gender roles. Prairie Fire opposes heterosexist privilege and supports the work of LGBTs to live openly and without fear.
