We support women's liberation

Banner: Global Women's Liberation, Not Corporate Exploitation

Institutionally and individually, male supremacy oppresses women. In this country, women earn 76 cents for every dollar a man earns, making it harder for the average woman to find economic independence and security. Poor women must face class oppression and male supremacy. The globalization of capitalism has increased the exploitation of women. More and more women must work in sweatshops, where they earn pennies an hour. Worldwide, sexual harassment is acceptable behavior.

Inside and outside the home, women face violence from men. At home, women still do most of the work and childcare and don't get paid for this "second shift." A woman's control of her own body and reproductive rights is still contested terrain. The sexist world we live in will change only when we build a strong feminist movement. In Prairie Fire we are part of this movement to build a society in which women are encouraged to develop their full human potential, where family is based on love and equality not gender and hierarchy, and where women control their bodies and their lives.
